Our commitment

Homies is built for people navigating an unfamiliar country — accessibility is core to that mission. We aim to conform to the Israeli accessibility standard (IS 5568, based on WCAG 2.0 Level AA) across the application.

What we've done

• Semantic structure, labeled controls and keyboard-reachable actions.
• High-contrast text on all surfaces and a scalable, responsive layout.
• English is the currently selectable interface language. Hebrew right-to-left support exists in the codebase but is marked coming soon while translation quality is reviewed.
• Where the meetups map is used, a list view of the same events is always available as an accessible alternative.
• Independent automated audits (Lighthouse accessibility score 98/100 as of July 2026).

Known limitations

Homies is an evolving pilot. Some newer screens (chat, the map, and recently added flows) have not yet had a full manual audit with assistive technology, and the embedded Google map is a third-party component whose accessibility we don't fully control — which is why a list alternative is always offered.
